We express our deep sorrow for the loss of Dionysis Savvopoulos, the great creator and songwriter who left an indelible mark on Greek music, whose songs accompanied Greeks of all ages in joy and love, in anguish and despair. Savvopoulos was always there, to make us sing and enjoy the good things of life.
Dionysis Savvopoulos was not only a great composer and lyricist, but also a free, thoughtful personality, who with his work and attitude contributed to dialogue, tolerance and humanism. Greek Judaism has lost a good and loyal friend who, with sensitivity and respect, highlighted the need for people to live together harmoniously regardless of their color, the race they belong to or the religion they believe in.
His memory will remain alive through his distinctive music and the values he served, and his voice will continue to resonate when we softly sing his songs.
