On 3.10.2023, KISE sent the following letter to the candidate Regional Governor of Attica, Mr. Yannis Sgouros, head of the "Attica Independent Self-Government" faction, regarding his choice to include in the combination the representative of anti-Semitism in Greece.
"To the head of the Ballot
Attica Independent Self-Government
Mr. Giannis Sgouros
Mr. Sgoure,
With this letter we express the disappointment and displeasure of Greek Jews for your decision to include on your ballot a well-known promoter of anti-Semitic stereotypes in Greece, who has not hesitated to insult the memory of the 6.000.000 Jewish victims of the Holocaust.
It is surprising that you, who during your term as Regional Governor of Attica had supported the need to combat all forms of intolerance, in 2023 welcome a genuine representative of anti-Semitism into your ranks.
We are confident that you will respect your past and delete from your faction those who offend the values of democracy and the culture of our society.
Sincerely,
The President DAVID SALTIEL
The General Secretary VICTOR ELIEZER"
Following the posting by PASOK executive and candidate for mayor of Serres, Mr. Panagiotis Karipoglou, of a sketch with the gate of Auschwitz, KISE sent a letter of protest to the President of PASOK, Mr. Nikos Androulakis (7.8.2023). Subsequently, Mr. P. Karipoglou in his reply letter to KISE apologized for the inappropriate parallel with the Holocaust. Both letters are posted below:
* KISE'S LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT OF PASOK
Mr President,
We were surprised to see on social media a sketch by the executive and candidate for parliament of your party, Panagiotis Karipoglou, in which the gate of the Nazi concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz was depicted with the inscription "The 16th hour liberates".
It was yet another vile operation to trivialize the Holocaust which causes grief and indignation not only to those who passed through this gate of hell and still live among us, but also to all of us who mourn the extermination of millions of our brothers and sisters in Auschwitz, among them 65.000 Greeks Jews.

On Sunday, July 23, 2023, the Municipality of Kos, the Central Jewish Council of Greece (KISE), the Civic Society of Hippocrates and the Administrative Committee of the Jewish Community of Rhodes inaugurate the renovated Synagogue of Kos.
78 years after the deportation of the island's Jews by the Nazis, in July 1944, and their extermination in Auschwitz, the historic Kal Shalom once again functions as a Synagogue and opens its doors to the local community and to thousands of visitors from all over the world.
The renovation project of the Synagogue of Kos, undertaken by the Architect Ilias Messinas, was implemented with the cooperation of the Municipality of Kos, the KISE and the Urban Society of Hippocrates, following the signing of a relevant Memorandum, with the aim of utilizing the Synagogue and upgrading its role in the life of the island as a religious place but also as a place of memory, knowledge and culture.
The Central Jewish Council of Greece expresses the strong conviction of Greek Jewry that the Greek government together with all the democratic forces of our country are vigilant and will not allow any neo-Nazi formation that reappears in the Greek parliament to insult the values of humanity and democracy. They will not allow the followers of obscurantism to bring back security forces, swastikas, Nazi salutes and violence to Greece.
And precisely because we do not forget that 6.000.000 of our co-religionists were brutally killed in the Nazi extermination camps, because our country, like all of Europe, suffered from the Nazi rampage with millions of victims, we must all show zero tolerance to any operation to overthrow prosperity and the harmonious living of citizens regardless of color, race, sex or religion.
