The 3η meeting of the European Commission's Working Group on Anti-Semitism was held via video conference, on 17.6.2020, due to the restrictions of the pandemic.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the European institutions as well as national delegations of the EU member countries, with the participation of the competent ministries, the special envoys for anti-Semitism and representatives of the Jewish Communities. From Greece, Dr. Efstathios Lianos-Liantis, head of the Greek Delegation to IHRA and Special Envoy for the Fight against Anti-Semitism, Dr. Angeliki Ziaka, AUTH, representative of the Ministry of Education, and on behalf of Greek Jewry, Mr. Daniel Benardout, Treasurer General of KISE.
One of the main topics discussed during the meeting was "Internet Misinformation and Anti-Semitic Conspiracy Theories", as the outbreak of the pandemic was followed by the spread of fake news and all kinds of conspiracy theories using old and new anti-Semitic myths.

The European Parliament, the European Council, the European Commission and the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy issued joint communiqué taking the initiative "tackling Coronavirus Disinformation- Getting the Facts Right" to counter misinformation about the coronavirus. This is the Commission's reaction to the rise in the spread of fake news and conspiracy theories on the internet.
Conspiracy theories - which endanger public health, harm social cohesion and harmonious coexistence and can lead to acts of racist violence and riots - require action and the commitment of institutions and social actors to deal with them.

The rise of anti-Semitism in recent years has made clear the need for coordinated action by both international and state agencies. However, it is the education officials who are charged with the high task of facing this social challenge by nurturing their students with the values of mutual respect and equality.
To achieve this goal, the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), prepared 10 specialized teaching aids, with a central theme "Tackling Anti-Semitism Through Education", in order to support teachers in discussing and explaining antisemitism in the classroom. The textbooks - with a general learning approach to the promotion of human rights, tolerance and provide practical guidance on how to answer questions or deal with anti-Semitic attitudes of students, while providing brief but comprehensive information on contemporary manifestations of anti-Semitism.

Leaders of Jewish communities from all over the world gathered, for the first time, in a joint session with 22 special envoys, commissioners and coordinators for the fight against Anti-Semitism, in order to formulate a common strategy to curb the phenomena of anti-Semitism, racism, xenophobia, radicalization and hate speech. The Summit was organized by the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union and the World Jewish Council (WJC) in Bucharest on June 17 and 18, 2019. The WJC was organized by the Greek Jew, Leon Saltiel, WJC's representative to the United Nations in Geneva and coordinator for the fight against Anti-Semitism.
Greece was represented by the special secretary of Religious and Cultural Diplomacy and special envoy for the fight against Anti-Semitism, Dr. Efstathios Lianos Liantis. On the sidelines of the Synod, he had bilateral contacts with the US Special Envoy, Elan Carr, the EU Coordinator, Katharina von Schnurbein, the German Commissioner for Jewish Life, Felix Klein, the Commissioner of the Federal State of Baden-Württemberg, Michael Blume, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, Georg Georgiev, as well as high-ranking officials of the World Jewish Council and Jewish communities around the world.
