The close relationship and cooperation of the Jewish community with the Greek diaspora, as well as that of Israel with Greece and Cyprus, is underlined in an interview with "K" by the new head of the American Jewish Committee, Ted Deutsch, who exactly two months ago took over the leadership of the organization after a successful twelve-year term as a member of the House of Representatives.
As the chairman of the House subcommittee on the Middle East and North Africa and at the same time as the founding chairman of the parliamentary group of the Greek-Israeli alliance of the Congress, he had taken the lead in promoting diplomatic initiatives, such as the creation of the "3+1" cooperation scheme that includes Greece, Cyprus, Israel and the USA.
Mr. Deutsch talks about the strategic value of Greece, which will continue to increase in the future due to the crucial role it now plays in terms of energy security amid the war in Ukraine and at the same time the importance of Alexandroupolis and the Gulf of Souda for regional stability and American interests in the region.
