On the eve of the 77th Anniversary of Independence Day, the population of Israel is 10.094.000. This is according to data from the Central Statistical Office, published on 29.4.2025. In 23 years, that is, on the 100th Anniversary of Independence Day of the State of Israel, the country's population is expected to number 15,2 million inhabitants.

The agency's data shows that 7.732.000 of the country's residents (77,6%) are Jewish or those defined as "other" - such as non-Arab Christians and those registered without a religion. 2.114.000 of the residents (20,9%) are Arabs and 248.000 are foreign workers (2,5%).

Since last Independence Day, Israel's population has increased by 135.000 people (an increase of 1,4%). Including about 32.000 belonging to the foreign population. During this period, about 174.000 babies were born in Israel, about 28.000 new immigrants arrived, about 50.000 people died, and the balance of Israelis residing abroad was a negative balance of about 56.000.

This is a high rate of growth, with the Statistical Office reporting that the global population growth rate is 0,9% per year, in OECD countries it is 0,5% and in the European Union the rate is only 0,2%. The Office explained that the growth and development come from a combination of a high total fertility rate (the number of children a woman gives birth to is on average close to 3) and also from immigration to Israel (a phenomenon unique to Jews), in addition to high life expectancy.

The Statistics Authority pointed out that since the founding of the state, when Israel’s population was 806.000, the number has increased 12,5 times. The data also shows that 18,5% of Israelis are between 0 and 9 years old. 16,5% are between 10 and 19 years old. In other words, more than a third of the country’s residents are under 20 years old. In contrast, 3% of residents are 80 years old and older, and 6% are in their 70s.

The Statistical Service's data also show that nearly 3,5 million immigrants have arrived in Israel since the state's creation, of which about 1,66 million (47,6%) arrived after 1990. At the end of 2023, about 45% of the world's Jewish population lived in Israel, and about 80% of Jews in Israel are "Sabras" (born in Israel).

In addition, according to the data, there are 15,8 million Jews in the world, of which more than 7 million live in Israel. In 1939, on the eve of World War II, the number of Jews in the world was 16,6 million, of which 449 thousand were in Israel (3%). In 1948, on the eve of the establishment of the state, the number of Jews in the world was 11,5 million, of which 650 thousand were in Israel (6%).

And despite the situation, most Israelis are satisfied with life. Data from the 20 Social Survey of People 2024 and Over show that 91% of Israelis are satisfied or very satisfied with life. 67% are satisfied and very satisfied with their financial situation, 92% of employees are satisfied and very satisfied with their jobs, and 83% of Israelis rate their health as good or very good. […] Approximately 26 thousand immigrants, from 102 countries.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Immigration and Absorption published data on the number of new immigrants who have arrived in Israel since last Independence Day. According to them, 26.211 new immigrants immigrated to Israel last year.

Most of the immigrants – 14.398 – came from Russia. 3.185 from the US and 2.253 from France. Then, in descending order, immigrants arrived from Ukraine, Britain, Belarus, Canada, Georgia, Argentina, South Africa and other countries, including individual immigrants from countries such as Zambia, Afghanistan, Iceland, Uganda and others. In total, immigrants arrived from 102 different countries around the world.

In terms of age distribution, most migrants (4.355) are young people aged 25-34, 5.047 migrants are infants and children aged 0-18 and 237 are over 85. […] The distribution of migrants between men and women is almost 50-50: 12.380 men and children and 13.831 women and girls.
