With particular emotion and religious devotion, the Pesach ceremony, the great feast of the Exodus, which marks the liberation of the Jews from the slavery of Egypt, was held in Volos on Saturday evening, April 12, 2025.
The event began at 19:00 PM with the established service at the Synagogue, where members of the Community and friends gathered to pray.
Afterwards, the attendees gathered at the Community Center, where the President of the Community, Mr. Marcel Solomon, welcomed them and sent them his best wishes. The Religious Minister, Mr. Moses Makis, referred to the timeless symbolism of the Exodus, the concept of freedom and faith, as well as the way in which everyone can walk towards their own spiritual liberation. The greeting sent by the Director of Secondary Education of Magnesia Prefecture, Mr. Socrates Savelidis, was also read. HERE.
At 20:30 PM, the reading of the Haggadah, the traditional narrative of the Exodus, began, which was read in Greek, so that it would be understood by all. Throughout the reading, those present participated respectfully, realizing the deep spirituality of the moment. The reading was not limited to a single reader; on the contrary, members of the Community and guests actively participated, reading successive passages, creating a warm, collective atmosphere. Many of the pieces were sung by everyone together, lending a special tone of joy and emotion to the evening.
The evening concluded with dinner, which lasted until 23:30 p.m. The table was set with dishes according to the customs of Pesach, in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
