On December 15, 2012, the Community Center welcomed the members of the Community, as well as many guests, to the event prepared by the Board of Directors and the Spiritual Action Committee, to honor Mrs. Rita Moses, for her many years of valuable contribution to the community project . As the event coincided with the last day of the Hanukkah holiday, it began with the lighting of the Hanukkah candles by Rabbi Mr. Elias Shabetai. Immediately after, the president of the Community, Mr. Maurice Magrizos, took the floor, who in very warm words outlined the personality of the honoree and presented her continuous contribution to community events, for over twenty years. She spoke of her consistent and organized presence on the Board of Directors, of her hard work and creativity in the Spiritual Action Committee, of her love and devotion to WIZO, of her endless interest in the members of the Community, of her gift to reason, for the professionalism with which she edited all her husband's books, for her participation in the Synagogue Committee, while recalling the various events and community activities that bear Rita's stamp. Concluding his speech, Mr. Magrizos underlined that the importance of this honorary event is not only the practical recognition of the contribution and the work, but mainly the opportunity it gives us to emphasize the value of volunteerism. Then a twenty-minute film with photos and videos of the life and community action of Rita Mousis was shown. The speech of the 16-year-old granddaughter of Rita Mousis, Erina, was touching, who with a lot of love and humor listed the virtues of her godmother. Finally, the honoree herself took to the podium, receiving an honorary plaque from the president of the Community, as well as a gift from the representative of the Volos Community, Mr. Michalis Sabethai. Clearly moved by what was heard about her person, Ms. Mousis thanked the Board of Directors. of the Community, those who worked for the event and all those present, while she did not fail to send her thoughts to her late husband Esdras Moses, whom she also described as her mentor in love and care for the Community. Referring to her path in the service of the Community, she said that it was full of strong emotions and that she considers herself lucky to have given her time and the best to her community, seeing it as a great value. In closing, Ms. Mousis urged the young people to actively support the Community, with consistency, love and new ideals. The event was closed by its coordinator, Ms. Nineta Faiss, reading a poem of hers dedicated to the honoree of the evening.
