On 25.1.2017, the educational community of Larissa gave a lesson to the student youth based on the historical memories of the Holocaust of the Jews, urging them not to forget the crimes of fascism and at the same time to become "guardians" so that such events do not happen again.
In an event held at the Municipal Conservatory of Larissa, as part of the two-day events for the National Day of Remembrance of the Greek Jewish Martyrs and Heroes of the Holocaust, and attended by students from schools in Larissa, in her speech the regional director of Education of Thessaly, Mrs. Eleni Anastasopoulou, pointed out among other things : "The perception that many children, and not only, have of Hitler, as a madman who simply wanted to conquer the whole world, shows their ignorance, frees Nazi ideas and practices from ideological connotations, falsifies the historical image of such a critical period of Nazism for humanity.
And all this at a time when Nazi ideas are emerging again with too much audacity in our country and in Europe. In the form of anti-Semitism or in the form of denying refugee students the right to education.
Do neo-fascist ideas finally find fertile ground, among other things, in the ignorance of the new generations?
...It is certain that such actions (Holocaust commemoration) that activate the students, make us hope that the new generation realizes that without the contribution of each one of us we cannot expect anything to change. And if not us, if not you our beloved students, then who will protect our society and project resistance to phenomena like those that have led entire peoples and communities of people to annihilation under the banner of diversity, non-solidarity, non-tolerance, non-humanism, non-democracy?"

The germ of racism continues to hatch in modern societies and affects individuals, groups and peoples like an epidemic. Neo-Nazi formations are born and act while extreme parties come to power or dangerously increase their percentages in many countries of the civilized world" emphasized on 26.1.2017 the president of the Israeli Community of Larissa, Moris Magrizos, speaking in the Synagogue, as part of the event for the National Day of Remembrance of the Greek Jewish Martyrs and Heroes of the Holocaust.
The two-day commemoration events, organized by the Israelite Community of Larissa, culminated on 26.1.2017 with a memorial service held at the Holocaust Memorial of the Greek Jews of Larissa, in the Square of Jewish Martyrs of the Occupation
A memorial service concluded with the laying of wreaths by the last Larissa survivor of the Auschwitz camp, Mrs. Naki Bega, as well as representatives of the local authorities.
The vice president of I.K. Mr. Ilias Filosof of Larisa participated and spoke at an event that was organized On 9.12.2016 from the Larisaiki Club on the subject of refugees. The newspaper ELEFTHERIA of Larisa published on 10.12.2016 the following article by Natasha Polygeni:
Church, immigrants, clash of cultures, holy war, crisis of values were just some of the topics that were touched upon at the extremely interesting evening of the Larissa Club that took place last night at the Municipal Conservatory of Larissa.
The ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in Greece Mr. Fawwaz Al-Eitan, the archimandrite father Nikiforos Kontogiannis and the vice-president of the Israeli Community Mr. Ilias Filosof spoke about burning issues that concern Greek society - and not only - in recent years, while they had the opportunity to talk with the public about the specific issues and at the end of the evening to draw useful conclusions.
The event began with a short greeting by the vice-mayor for Culture, Mr. Panos Sapkas, who, among other things, mentioned that Larissa, due to its geographical location and fertile soil, has always been a great melting pot of peoples and cultures.
The greeting of the president of the Larisaiki Club, Mr. Grigoris Prezerakou, was also brief, focusing on the goals of the Club and making it clear that in no case does he attempt to cross a line, teach or guide. Her role, as she said, is to identify issues that concern society and to always try to find the best way to inform the public.

On October 21, 2016, the following article by Betty Magrizou was published in the newspaper ELEFTHERIA entitled "The photo exhibition about Auschwitz" regarding the opening of a photographic exhibition on the subject of "Auschwitz".
On Monday, October 17, 2016 at WHEEL, I was lucky enough to be present at the opening of a shocking photo exhibition on the subject of AUSCHWITZ - AGAINST FORGIVING.
The exhibition took place in the context of the events of the liberation of Larissa from the Germans, which the Municipality has established in the last three years. Photographers of two amateur sensitive fellow citizens of ours, Roula Silitzi and Andrianos Lekkas, who, visiting the Auschwitz concentration camps, were so shocked that they wanted to convey the images they saw to the world.
How little the world really knows about these hells of death, which the human mind cannot contain! How many really don't know that in the liberation of Larissa, 235 Greek Jews were not our fellow citizens to enjoy their freedom together with all the people of Larissa, after they perished there in a barbaric way? Ms. Naki Bega, the only living survivor of the concentration camps in Larissa, is captivating in her story. A heroine of life Ms. Naki Bega, like all those who returned and started families, raised children carrying the burden of the memory of a life without value, a life wounded by the losses of their own people.
