On July 19, 2009, the members of the Frances family, one of the most well-known and large families of the Community, who are today scattered all over the world, met in Larissa. Josaphat and Rebecca Frances started from Larissa and became the patriarchs and creators of a family of seven children, which today numbers 450 members.

On May 9 and 10, 2009, it was held in Larissa on the 31stο WIZO conference, which this year coincided with the celebration of 60 years of WIZO and 30 years of AVIV Larissa.
110 women from almost all WIZO-AVIV departments in Greece participated in the conference, which by all accounts was a great success. The good organization and interesting topics of the Conference left the best impressions on the participants.

On 28.4.09, in an event organized in the Synagogue, the memory of the victims of the Holocaust was commemorated. After the memorial service by the Rabbi of Larissa, Mr. Elias Sabetai, the surviving hostages from our community, together with their grandchildren, lit candles in memory of the 6.000.000 innocent victims of the Shoah. This was followed by the excellent speech of Mr. Aaron Venouziou, who began by referring to the Pleuris case and the phenomena of modern anti-Semitism and analyzed the elements that differentiate the Holocaust from the other dark pages of human history.

The event for the National Day of Remembrance of the Greek Jewish Martyrs and Heroes of the Holocaust took place on 31.1.09 at the Holy Synagogue of Larissa, organized by the Prefecture and the Israeli Community of the city.Present were, among others, deputies of the prefecture, the prefect of Larissa, the prefect of Elassonas, mayors, prefectural and municipal councilors, a representative of the Holy Metropolis, representatives of the Military Authorities, the president of the K.I.S., presidents and representatives of Israeli Communities and representatives of institutions and organizations of the city.

The history, morals and customs of the Jewish Community of Larissa were presented through the book of Mr. E. Moisis in an event that took place on February 1, 2001, at the "Hatziyanneio" Spiritual Center.
