TRACKING OUR SCHOOL…

The school of the Israelite Community of Thessaloniki is a school with the sacred purpose of preserving the Jewish identity and with special goals, strengthening the memory of Jewish history and teaching the Hebrew language.

Resisting oblivion, it measures a long, rich, adventurous history of the school building 90 years since its construction, 40 years since its foundation, affirms its existence, highlighting those moments that time photographs and locks images in our mind and soul forever.

Based on the experiential role of educational programs with an emphasis on multiculturalism and the values of our society, we enrich our school's archive with important records.

Promoting the value of experience in the educational process, aiming at the active learning and awareness of our students, we tried to relate the past to the present using a variety of research tools.

We are often driven to collect material through oral history, study written sources and seek to interview first and second generation Holocaust survivors before they remain only as photographs…

We feel proud of our children, who, under the guidance of the responsible teachers, with maturity and teamwork, researched and completed their work by creating the audio-visual material, where aspects of the fascinating school life unfold.
