The visitors were given a tour of the Museum by the Scientific Director, Dr. Xenia Eleftheriou. This was followed by an extensive briefing on the educational programs and educational activities of the Jewish Museum of Thessaloniki. Mr. Otsuka expressed his strong desire for cooperation between the Holocaust Education Center and the Jewish Museum of Thessaloniki.
The Holocaust Education Center is the first Holocaust education center for children established in Japan. The center is dedicated to the countless children who were robbed of their hope, future, and lives. It exhibits historical artifacts donated by Holocaust centers in the United States, Australia, European countries, and Israel, as well as by many survivors who volunteered to help the world learn about what they went through. These artifacts are testimonies of the era, and each one unfolds the darkest period of the Holocaust. The Holocaust Education Center is located in Fukuyama City, forty-five minutes from Hiroshima, where the atomic bomb was dropped fifty years ago, and one hour and ten minutes from Osaka. The center contributes to deepening understanding of the historical period and will help raise awareness among young people for world peace.
