The page of the Thessaloniki Tourism Organization will also provide information in Hebrew, since the Israeli Community announced that it will translate the texts of the city's official travel guide free of charge (www.thessaloniki.travel).
The above emerged from the meeting that took place in the context of the preparation of the strategic tourism marketing plan of Thessaloniki. This is the 7th consultation co-organized by the Tourism Research Laboratory "TourLab" of the International University of Greece and the Thessaloniki Tourism Organization.
Hebrew will be the 8th language in which the information about Thessaloniki will be translated, as in a few days we are expected to see the texts in Serbian as well (for now the guide is translated into: English, Spanish, German, Chinese and Russian) .
The consultation was attended by David Saltiel, president of the Central Jewish Council of Greece and the Jewish Community of Thessaloniki, Dr. Evangelos Hekimoglou, curator of the Jewish Museum of Thessaloniki, Victor Nar, director of the Israeli Community of Thessaloniki and Maurice Saporta, assistant to the president of the Israeli Community of Thessaloniki.
As Mr. Saltiel pointed out, "it is an excellent opportunity to emphasize the fact that the Community is always ready to help promote the city and its tourism development".
The Israeli Community makes sure to showcase its rich history and its dynamic present, through the Museum, the Synagogues and the many points connected with the timeless Jewish presence in Thessaloniki. It also contributes to having what the numerous visitors from all over the world and especially Israel demand.
As the OTTH states in its announcement, these consultations aim, on the one hand, to contribute to the recording of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of Thessaloniki as a tourist destination, and on the other hand, to give a voice in a meaningful way to all those involved in tourism city development.
