On January 28, 2022, the members of the Board of Directors of I.K. Chalkidas laid a wreath at the Holocaust Memorial in memory of the 6.000.000 of our co-religionists who perished in the Nazi death camps, including members of the I.K. Chalkida.
During the ceremony, a memorial prayer was given by the religious minister of I.K. Chalkidas Ms. Mina Levi.
Particularly symbolic was the placement of the WeRemeber message on the busts of the blessed Metropolitan Grigorios of Chalkida and Colonel Mordokai Frizis, which are located next to the Holocaust Memorial, in the Jewish cemetery of Chalkida.
The wish of all of us is for an end to anti-Semitism and for love to prevail between people. NEVER AGAIN - WE NEVER FORGET.
Mair Maisis, a native of Chalkida, is the guardian of the Jewish memory of his city. Halkida has the oldest Jewish settlement in Europe and the Jewish cemetery, which Mair Maisis takes care of bit by bit as his second home, has the oldest graves of many centuries. It is a place steeped in stories lost in time.
He himself passionately guides anyone who comes to learn about the past of Chalkida. When Mair Mais was a child, he experienced the brutality of the Nazi occupation and lived through unspeakable tragedies. He is the pre-eminent scholar of the Jewish history of his city and his research has been recorded in books that are reference points for Greek Jewry. I read his new book with the same emotion and great respect that his face exudes.

On 5.12.2021, the President of I.K. Mr. Makis Maisis of Chalkida honored the hero Mordochaios Frizis, who fell fighting on December 5, 1940 in Premet, by laying a wreath on the statue on which he is riding.
The death of Mordecai Frizis was extensively covered by the press of the time and the publication of 24th December 1940 of the newspaper "Euripos" which writes:
"You hate the Synagogue. "Tomorrow Sunday 24-12-1940 at 11 a.m. by decision of the Council of the Israelite Community, a prayer is chanted in the Synagogue in favor of the blessing of the glorious Greek arms.
All the ancients, organizations and others will be invited to this event."
DAILY, 8.9.2020, by Nikos Vatopoulos. I can still remember the sound of his palm dragging as he cleaned the pine needles on the marble. Mair Maisis was our man. Motionless, overflowing with power, with primal flame, he was already waiting at the gate of the Jewish Cemetery of Chalkida. "Find Mr. Mais, if you are interested in a guided tour of the oldest Jewish cemetery in Europe," the journalist Mr. Victor Eliezer advised me, who found out about my presence in Chalkida via the Internet. I was brought to Chalkida by the invitation of the bio-mechanical festival for the presentation of Nikitas Siniosoglou's book "NATO Avenue" (published by Kichli). Within this cultural horizon and with my mind on the trail of old Chalkida, a whole world emerged: the city's Jewish community and its ancient Roman cemetery.
