The following was posted on the website of the embassy of Israel on Facebook on 27.1.2023 statement of the ambassador of Israel Mr. Noam Katz for Holocaust Remembrance Day 2023:
"I attended the Holocaust commemoration event organized by the Israeli Community of Athens for Holocaust Remembrance Day. I emphasized the importance of the Jewish commandment of Zakhor (remembrance) as a means of continuously combating anti-Semitism, bigotry and Holocaust denial. In 87 % of Greek Jews perished in the Shoah. We will not forget them. never. Never again!".

PtD Mrs. Katerina Sakellaropoulou with her post on twitter on 27.1.2023 emphasized the meaning of Holocaust Remembrance Day with the following statement:
"Today we honor the victims of the Holocaust. The heinous crime of Nazism, which shocked humanity with its unimaginable brutality, calls us all to constant vigilance so that the slogan 'Never Again' can be put into practice."

January 27, 2023 National Holocaust Remembrance Day today, and we commemorate the 80.000 Greek Jews, and 50.000 Thessalonians, exterminated by the Nazis in the death camps during World War II.
1. When the Italians invaded Greece in October 1940, Greek Jews fought bravely alongside their Christian fellow citizens. According to the available data, around 13.000 Jews served in the ranks of the Greek army, with over 500 killed at the front and close to 4.000 wounded. One of those who fell dead was Nathan Benveniste. Jack Soustiel, my grandfather's "Uncle Jackos," had the difficult task of informing Nathan's brother Chaim, also a soldier, with this letter:

When I decided to write about the Holocaust, my first thought was that this part of history belongs to the previous generations, it is their sad history, it is a very heavy subject, so big, what do I have to say about it? Besides, I'm not a historian, I'm just a descendant of people who hid and survived.
The Holocaust my generation experienced, we experienced it at the beginning of our lives, in our childhood, as a secret. We didn't talk about it at home, our parents hardly talked. But, as if it were written in our DNA, we knew. And we timidly tried to learn, without asking questions that we understood made it difficult for the adults.
