A delegation consisting of the Rabbi of Thessaloniki Isaac Dayan, the Mayor of Didymoteicho Romulos Hatzigiannoglou, the honorary president of OPAIE David Taramboulos and the legal advisor of the Central Jewish Council of Greece Kostas Stathopoulos visited Didymoteicho on June 4 & 5, 2025 to highlight the Jewish wealth that exists in the area.
The municipality of Didymoteicho, in view of the visit of the delegation of OPAIE and KISE, took the necessary steps to clean the cemeteries that had been under maintenance for many decades. The intention and goal is to promote the monument as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The delegation also visited the Holocaust Memorial in Jewish Martyrs Square, where a prayer was held, as well as Jewish houses that are still preserved with the ultimate goal of their further development, so that Didymoteicho can soon become another tourist destination for Jews everywhere who visit by the thousands areas of Greece, which bear witness to the passage of their ancestors.
