Louder than any other year was this year's NEVER AGAIN children in Larissa and their dynamic presence in actions they organized or participated in, on the occasion of the National Holocaust Remembrance Day.

On Thursday 26 January 2023, more than 150 middle school and high school students they suffocated the Mill Theater and they watched the shocking performance "Saturday" of the Television Control Center, which tells the story and displacement of the Jews of Ioannina. It was an initiative of the Thessalian Theater (which offered this show to the Larissa public the night before) to repeat it the next day for the students and the response of the schools exceeded all expectations.

On Friday 27 January 2023 her tribute event was presented at the Municipal Conservatory of Secondary Education of Larisa, in collaboration with the Israeli Community, which has established itself in our city and is embraced by more schools every year. In this year's manifestation, which had an issue "Holocaust Drama Becomes Art" they participated 20 schools in the prefecture, presenting original creations of the students, which they had prepared under the guidance of their excellent teachers. Powerful paintings alternated with sensitive poems, written by the children themselves, collage posters with digital videos and theater acts with choral songs, in this impeccably organized event.

The excitement peaked when his students Special High School they delivered the iconic "Song of Songs" of Theodorakis, as well as with the little ones Jewish students of the Caravan School, who brought to life the stories of their own grandparents. Below, an audience of about 500 students and teachers, watched, listened and kept silent...

At the end, student delegations walked to Anne Frank Square and laid wreaths and flowers at the votive column located there, in memory of the 1.500.000 children who perished in the Holocaust.

Parallel to the above, from Wednesday 25 to Friday 27 January, another action was taking place in the atrium of the Municipal Art Gallery of Larissa. His students 1st and 3rd High School of Larisa, in collaboration with the Anne Frank Foundation in Amsterdam, set up a completely original exhibition entitled "Let me be myself". Starting with the story of Anne Frank and her diary, banners were created that told the entire history of the persecution of the Jews of Europe. The amazing thing is that the tour guides in this exhibition were the students themselves, after a special seminar, in which they were trained not only to describe the events, but also to encourage the visitors to express their feelings. After the tour, the student-visitors participated in an experiential workshop, where, with the help of well-designed material, they deepened the value of accepting diversity.

Hundreds of students and adults were guided through the exhibition and admired the professionalism and contagiousness of the teenage guides. Among them many members of the Larissa Community as well as the President Mr. Ilias Kampelis, who donated on behalf of the Community a book "The Diary of Anne Frank" to all the "tour guides".

Everything we saw and felt this year from the children in Larissa filled us with emotion, pride and hope. More important, however, is what preceded in their schools, with the help of enlightened teachers, to produce these results. In other words, the study of such a harsh subject, such as the Holocaust, but in such a way that it is "used" as a springboard for reflection and commitment of young people to the creation of a world free of intolerance and discrimination.
