Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, met on 22.09.2023 with the leadership of the American Jewish Committee (AJC) and American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC).
During the meetings the Prime Minister underlined the excellent level of Greece's relations with the USA and Israel and the prospect of further strengthening Greek-Israeli relations, which was discussed during the recent meeting of Kyriakos Mitsotakis with the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, in Nicosia, on the sidelines of the Tripartite Summit of Greece, Cyprus and Israel.
The Prime Minister also expressed his thanks for the help provided by Israel during the natural disasters that hit Greece.
There was also an exchange of views on international and regional issues, with an emphasis on the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East.
The Prime Minister made special reference to the Asia-Middle East Corridor, in which Greece can be a bridge with Europe.

The percentage of Jews living in Israel amounts to 46% of the total number of Jews in the world - 7,2 million: this appears from the data published by the Jewish Agency based on the research of Professor Sergio Della-Pergola. The number of people entitled to the Law of Return (Israeli citizenship) in the world is 25,5 million people.
An increase of about 100.000 is recorded compared to 15,6 million in 5783 (corrected estimate compared to original publication). This is according to the figures published by the Jewish Agency for the New Year, according to a study conducted by Prof. Sergio Della-Pergola of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem for the American Jewish Yearbook (2023 AJYB)
Of the total Jewish population, the number of Jews in Israel is about 7.200.000, up from 7.080.000 in early 5783, while about 8,5 million Jews live outside Israel (of which about 6,3 million are in the United States , and about 2,2 million in all other countries) […] Estimates for Russia and Ukraine have been revised in line with the significant immigration that followed the war.

Rare photographic material from Thessaloniki during the Ottoman Empire is on display at the Museum of Art and History of Judaism (MAHJ) in Paris.
The exhibition "Salonique, Jerusalem des Balkans, 1870 - 1920" will be inaugurated on 19.9.23 and will last until 21.4.2024.
The 150 works of the exhibition reconstruct the history of Thessaloniki from the second half of the 19th century to the end of the First World War.
The photographs are part of the donation of nearly 400 photographs and documents made to the Museum by Pierre de Gigord, a great French collector devoted to the history of the Ottoman Empire.

The Solid Waste Management Agency (FODSA) of Peloponnese, the global cultural and charitable organization B'nai B'rith "PHILON Athens", the Central Union of Municipalities of Greece and the PED of Peloponnese, co-organized in Sparta from August 31 to September 2, 2023 the established "Sparta Symposia of Ideas - - Towards a Sustainable Ecosystem".
The Conference was attended by over 100 people and focused on energy, waste management, the environment and their interrelationship and detailed policy and technology matching presentations by American, Israeli and Greek academics & research experts, government officials, policy makers and diplomats , strategic analysts for renewable energy sources, as well as specialized executives of organizations.
