Themis Moumoulidis returns with a new scenic portrait.
The life and work of the singer Stella Haskill become the inspiration for the musical performance that he writes and directs, creating his eighth stage portrait in a row.
Preceded by: Nikos Kavadias, Karyotakis-Polydouri, T. S. Eliot, K.P. Cavafy, George Seferis, Mikis Theodorakis, Marie Sklodowska Curie.
In "Mikro Gloria", an atmospheric theater dominated by a close relationship between the stage and the audience, it will be given to 16 November 2024 the premiere of the project "The other Stella".
The role of Stella Haskill and the songs of the show are performed by the excellent actress and singer Marianna Polychronidis. Also on stage are the musicians Antonis and Thodoris Xintaris.
Speech, music and songs sketch the portrait of a great voice and bring her life and work to life on stage. Contemporary music, memory soundscapes, coexist with the music of the great songs performed by Stella Haskill. Electronic and digital sound are "married" with the sound of the folk orchestra.
Stella Haskill was one of the most important popular voices of the first half of the past century. Born in Thessaloniki, a year after the great fire of 1917, Haskil marked with her voice the great successes of Tsitsanis, Kaldaras, Chiotis, Toundas and many others. Of Jewish origin, he lived through the holocaust and the genocide of the Jews of Thessaloniki. Family friend with Rosa Eskenazi. She died at the age of 36.
Along with Stella's life, the work follows the great social restructuring in Greece and especially in Thessaloniki, where thousands of refugees arrived after the Asia Minor disaster and the Pontian Genocide. In this multicultural society that was created, the song was the support and the way out of ordinary people.
The project is based on the excellent fictional biography of Efi Mahimari "It was kismet" for the great Stella Haskill.
