THOSE WHO SURVIVED. Resistance. Displacement. Return.
Thessalonian Jews in the 1940s.
By RIKAS BENVENISTE
On Thursday, February 12, 2015, at 19.00:XNUMX p.m, at the bookstore "By the Word" (Academia 32) Rika Benveniste's book is presented “THOSE WHO SURVIVED. Resistance. Displacement. Return. Thessalonian Jews in the 1940s".
The author will be discussed by: Frangiski Ambatzopoulou, emeritus professor of AUTH, Ariella Asser, psychoanalyst and Antonis Liakos, historian.
About the book:
I am trying to tell the common story of destruction as shared by different people under persecution, people who took different paths, who sometimes met and sometimes diverged. By focusing on multiple testimonies, one after the other - written and recorded in different moments and contexts - testimonies of people who lived the same experience, it is possible to capture both the individuality of each narrative separately, and the memories they share in common, without prematurely imposing a single voice on these narratives.
THE GAME OF THE STAGE
Annotated slogans from the Greek stadiums
By Leon A. Nar
On Thursday, January 29, 2015, at 8.30:24 p.m., at the IANOS bookstore (Stadiou XNUMX, Athens), IANOS, METAIXMIO publications and Leon A. Nar are organizing the presentation of the book "THE BOARD GAME, Annotated slogans from the Greek fields" by Leon A. Nar.
The presentation of the book will be made by Myrto Alikakis, Stelios Kouloglou, Antonis Panoutsos, Christos Sotirakopoulos, Pavlos Tsimas and Victoria Hislop.
A few words about the book:
Who, if anything, inspires the slogans that are constantly heard in the stadiums by fans of different teams? Are these a modern version of "folk songs"? Can they confirm the opinion that the "stand" is one of the last living spaces of action of popular culture?
