Valeria Marries Michal Vinik, Israel, 2022, 76'
Saturday 12 November, 17:00, Stavros Tornes Hall & Sunday, November 13, 13:00 p.m., Tonia Marketakis Hall
Valeria, a young Ukrainian, arrives in Israel to meet her future husband. Their wedding has been arranged online – just like the wedding of her sister, Christina, who has already been married in Israel for years. Although Cristina seems content with her life, the arrival of Valeria will turn the tide and change everything. Throbbing with emotional tension without ever touching on melodrama, this chamber drama dissects, thanks to its delicate script, a series of questions around gender equality, politics and the harsh social conditions that force women to become estranged as brides in other side of the world.
