With deep emotion and participation of representatives of the state, the Israeli Community of Athens and the diplomatic corps, the Memorial Ceremony for the victims of the Holocaust in Athens was held on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at the Beth Shalom Synagogue.
The event was dedicated to the Jews who were arrested in Athens during the Persecution (September 1943-September 1944), deported and murdered in the death camps, as well as to those who were murdered within Greek territory in their attempt to escape arrest and deportation.

On Sunday, March 23, 2025, in a packed hall, the presentation of the essay entitled “The Burden of Being a Jew” by Aris Emmanouil took place at the Community Center of the Athens Community Center. A distinguished panel consisting of Mr. Thrasyvoulos Papastratis (lawyer-researcher of Jewish Hellenism), Ms. Ariella Asser (psychoanalyst and translator), Mr. Mino Moysis (mathematician) and Ms. Luna Emmanouil (field coordinator in a Program for the Reception of Unaccompanied Minors), spoke in detail about the essay.
On Thursday, March 27.3.2025, XNUMX, the I.K. of Athens welcomed to the Community Center Elias Messinas, architect, who presented his new book entitled "The Good", and through it his recent and very important work with photographs and comments on the synagogues of the Jewish communities of Greece, most of which no longer exist.
The author was also joined by Savvas Kalenderidis, publisher, Giorgos Lianis, journalist, and Annita Tsopanelli, architect, who referred to Mr. Messina's work and personality.
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar, as part of his official visit to Athens, where he met with Prime Minister K. Mitsotakis and his Greek counterpart G. Gerapetritis, participated in the service for the celebration of Purim at the Athens Synagogue.
