Faithful to our traditions, as every year, I.K. Chalkidas celebrated Hanukkah in the Synagogue.
We lit the Hanukkah candles with wishes for health and peace and the celebration ended with the traditional loukumades.
I.K. Chalkidas commemorated the International Day of Remembrance for the victims of the Holocaust by laying a wreath on 29.1.2023 at the Holocaust Memorial, located near the Jewish Cemetery, and holding a memorial service for the deceased victims.
The statement was made by the president of I.K. Chalkida Mr. Solon Mais and several members of the Community were present.
Also, as part of the actions proposed by the Ministry of Education to Schools of all educational levels for the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the students of two primary schools of the city visited the Synagogue, where Mr. Mairis Maisis spoke to them about his personal experiences as a hidden child during the Occupation, but also for the importance of Holocaust knowledge and memory.

On 14.6.2022, Mr The Municipality of Chalkide posted the following announcement on its Facebook account regarding the presentation of the book "The History of the Jewish Community of Chalkida - Memories 1940-1945" by Mair - Mario Maisis which took place on 13.6.2022 in Chalkida.
"At the presentation of the book by Mr. Mair - Mario Maisis "The History of the Jewish Community of Chalkida - Memories 1940-1945", held on Monday, June 13, 2022 at the Red House, by the Jewish Community of Chalkida, the Soroptimist Club of Chalkida and the Evia Archaeophile Society, the Mayor of Chalkidea, Elena Vaka, attended.
"There is very little that one can add, after such a brilliant rendering of the plot and structure of the book by the distinguished speakers and above all by its author.
Through this book, the battle of good and evil is revived, once again. A battle that begins with each of us individually and reaches the great battles that determine the destinies of peoples. What remains is that good always survives, even if it does not survive in this world, it will surely come and vindicate us in the next.
On 19.5.2022, the presentation of the German-language edition of the book by Mair Maisi "The Jewish Community of Chalkida" took place at the Ionian Center in Plaka, in the presence of the Austrian ambassador in Athens Ms. Popeler, who gave a greeting.
The attendees were welcomed by the president of the Association of Austrians in Greece, Ms. Elfriede Damala, as well as Ms. Marion Hoffmann, who, in collaboration with Ms. Damala, translated the book into German. The project was implemented with the financial support of the "Zukunftsfonds" Foundation, the Republic of Austria and Ms. Ariane Kontelli.
His greeting followed general secretary of KISE, Mr. Victor Eliezer, who congratulated all those who contributed to the publication of the book and referred to its importance emphasizing that "it is a easy-to-understand, comprehensive book summarizing the tradition, life, history of the Jews of Chalkida, as well as information about the Synagogue, the cemetery, the Monuments and the Museum. A book that promotes the special character of the Romanio community of Chalkida, whose history has its roots in the 3rd BC. century".
On April 30, 2022, a documentary about the Jewish cemetery of Chalkida was shown on the TV station of the Hellenic Parliament in the show "Urban Landscape", with architect Efi Mantzari as presenter.
