Rare photographic material from Thessaloniki during the Ottoman Empire is on display at the Museum of Art and History of Judaism (MAHJ) in Paris.

The exhibition "Salonique, Jerusalem des Balkans, 1870 - 1920" will be inaugurated on 19.9.23 and will last until 21.4.2024.

The 150 works of the exhibition reconstruct the history of Thessaloniki from the second half of the 19th century to the end of the First World War.

The photographs are part of the donation of nearly 400 photographs and documents made to the Museum by Pierre de Gigord, a great French collector devoted to the history of the Ottoman Empire.
