With particular emotion, they took place in 23.3.2025 by the Municipality of Kastoria, the events for the Remembrance Day of the Jewish Community of Kastoria. The events included a symbolic Remembrance March from Omonia Square to the Holocaust Memorial, where a memorial service was held by the wise Rabbi of the Jewish Community of Thessaloniki, Dr. Yitzhak Dayan, and our fellow citizen, Isaac Cohen.

Commemoration march in honor of the Jewish Community of Kastoria that perished in Auschwitz took place on 26.3.2023 in an event organized by the Municipality of the uninhabited city.
At the head of the symbolic March of Remembrance that started from Omonia Square to the Holocaust Memorial of the Jewish Community was mayor of Kastoria Yannis Korentsidis, o President of the Central Jewish Council of Greece and the Jewish Community of Thessaloniki, David Saltiel, the MPs of Kastoria, Zisis Tzikalayas and Olympia Teligioridou, n Consul General of Germany in Thessaloniki, Sibylla Bendick, o President of the Community Assembly of the Israeli Community of Thessaloniki, Solomon Parente and the representative of the latter of a remaining Jewish family of Kastoria Iakovos Eliou, while dozens of citizens participated.

78 years have passed since March 24, 1944, when some 1.000 Kastoria Jews were rounded up and imprisoned for Nazi death camps in Poland, erasing the traces of a thriving community that had lived in harmony with Christians for a millennium.
The Memory of the Jews of Kastoria cannot and must not be forgotten.
With their thoughts on the tragic events of that gloomy day, the bodies of Kastoria and representatives of the Jewish Communities from all over Greece paid a Tax of Honor and Memory, in the context of a simple ceremony held by the Municipality of Kastoria on 27.3.2022.
