In an emotionally charged atmosphere, on Sunday 31.3.2024, the Holocaust Remembrance Day event of the Jewish Community of Kastoria, organized by the Municipality of Kastoria, took place.
At 11:30 in the morning all those who participated in the event met in Omonia Square. A symbolic march of memory followed to the Holocaust Memorial.
There, a memorial service was held in memory of the Jews of Kastoria who were exterminated in the Nazi concentration camps, psalms of David were sung by the Choir of the Israelite Community of Thessaloniki and greetings followed, from the Mayor of Kastoria Giannis Korentsidis, from the representative of the President of the Greek Government Maria Mavroyianni, Secretary General of International Economic Relations and Foreign Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, from the representative of the Central Jewish Council of Greece Deputy Secretary General of the Board of Directors. & Vice President of the Jewish Community of Rhodes Yomtov Aki Robisa and by other representatives of the Jewish Communities.
The event ended with the laying of wreaths.
